Guide to Sera Test Kits
Sera test kits are a series of tests to check the levels of different chemicals in your aquarium water. They help you determine whether there is too little or too much of certain substances that are vital for your fish’s wellbeing and growth. In other words, they will tell you if your water chemistry is healthy or not. The exception to this rule are nitrite (NO2) and ammonia (NH3), which should always remain at 0 because otherwise, your fish could die from poisoning!
After fishless cycling, nitrite should always be 0, and ammonium (NH4) should only ever exceed the maximum value given in the test kit.
what do sera test kits measure?
Here is a list of all the chemicals that can be checked with Sera test kits: pH, carbon dioxide (CO2), general hardness (GH), nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3), ammonia (NH3), free chlorine (ClO2) – which you get if you use certain water conditioners, total chlorine (Cl2 + ClO2) which you get only if your water contains bromine or iodine. The latter two are not covered by Sera’s test kits. Further down this guide, you will find some abbreviated instructions for using the tests.
Types of test kits
Sera makes two different series of test kits – the “Classic” tests and the digital tests. The latter is slightly more expensive but has a higher resolution, so you can detect even very small fluctuations in the water chemistry.
If you have an aquarium with freshwater fish or plants, use the classic seraph plus, nitrite plus, ammonia plus, total chlorine plus, Total Hardness plus GH plus, pH minus- not acidity- drops to measure the levels of each compound. If you have a freshwater aquarium without ornaments that do not need high or low pH values, then stick with these. For saltwater tanks where only hardy fish are kept, select Sera Salt Test Salt for measuring general hardness (GH) and total hardness (GH + KH).
Best Sera Test Kits – FAQ
Are Sera tests good?
For general testing, this kit performed well.
The alkalinity (KH) test has one reagent like most other low-end kits and measures in 1 dKH increments.
Accuracy was close to my other kits.
Users will certainly run out of #3 before any other reagent is even close to being exhausted.
What is a Sera test?
The sera Quick Test provides the optimal possibility to check the most important water parameters (pH value, carbonate hardness, total hardness, nitrate, nitrite and chlorine) in the aquarium with just one test strip quickly and without any problems.

What blood type is anti Rh?
Red blood cells (RBCs): Type O Positive (left) and type O Negative (right).
Both types are without A and B antigens, but the O Positive (left) has the Rh antigen.

What is a test chart?
Test, eye chart: This test measures how well you see at various distances.
The chart and the letters are named for a 19th-century Dutch ophthalmologist Hermann Snellen (1834-1908) who came up with them as a test of visual acuity.
How does antiserum work to type the blood?
The test to determine your blood group is called ABO typing. Your blood sample is mixed with antibodies against type A and B blood. Then, the sample is checked to see whether or not the blood cells stick together. If blood cells stick together, it means the blood reacted with one of the antibodies.
How do you test for ammonia?
The ammonia test measures the level of ammonia in a blood sample.
Blood is drawn from a vein (venipuncture), usually from the inside of the elbow or the back of the hand.
A needle is inserted into the vein, and the blood is collected in an air-tight vial or a syringe.
How do you take ammonia samples?
Blood should be collected into EDTA or heparin tubes, separated immediately and the plasma kept on ice until analysis. Ammonia is stable in plasma for a maximum of 3 hours under these conditions.
How accurate are home water test kits?
The simple answer is yes, they do. Tests done with home water test kits might not be performed in a lab by a chemist but they are still reliable. The kit will notify you whether or not the water is contaminated. Furthermore, the test kit will also show what is contaminating the water.
What’s the healthiest blood type?
Of the eight main blood types, people with type O have the lowest risk for heart disease.
People with types AB and B are at the greatest risk, which could be a result of higher rates of inflammation for these blood types.
A heart-healthy lifestyle is particularly important for people with types AB and B blood.
Is O Negative a rare blood type?
Contrary to popular belief, O- blood is not the rarest blood type.
It is estimated 7 percent of the population has O- blood type while only 1% of the population has AB- blood.
In fact, O Negative blood is often used for premature infants and babies who need blood transfusions.
How do you test for nitrates?
Copper turnings test
How do you test for nitrates in water?
To perform the nitrate and nitrite test:
Remove the test strip from the packet labeled CL/CO/NA/NI.
Pick up the strip at the end with no pads.
Dip the strip in the sample three times and remove it without shaking off excess water.
Hold the test strip level for 2 seconds.
How do you lower nitrates?
Water changes: Performing regular water changes with water that has little or no nitrate will lower the overall nitrate level in the aquarium. If your local tap or well water is high in nitrate, using deionized water (DI) or reverse osmosis water (RO) can help keep nitrate levels low when doing a water change.
What is the most common eye chart?
The Snellen chart is the most widely used. Alternative types of eye charts include the logMAR chart, Landolt C, E chart, Lea test, Golovin–Sivtsev table, the Rosenbaum chart, and the Jaeger chart.
How can I check my eyesight at home?
Print or purchase a vision chart.
Tape the chart on a wall.
Place your child’s chair ten feet away from the chart.
Ask your child to cover one of his or her eyes.
Light the vision chart.
Have your child read each line of the chart.
Repeat the process with your child’s other eye-covered.
How can I test my eyesight?
Test Your Eyesight Now

Cover your left eye with one hand and try to determine which direction the character ‘E’ is facing, use your right eye.
When finished with the right eye, repeat the exercise with the left eye.
